Last but not the least…..

Kennesha was married to Terrence Simons back in November.  She decided to have her bridal session after her wedding which we did in December.

As some of you may remember, Tione` & Owen were married on August 10th.  As I mentioned when I posted a few images from their wedding, it rained cats and dogs about 30 mins before the ceremony was about to end.  It slowed down to a drizzle by the time the ceremony ended but the decision was made to photograph the formals at the reception venue.

I really really really wanted to photograph Tione` & Owen outside as Tione`’s dress was stunning!!  So last week I put the idea to the newlyweds that we should do an Us Session right after I photograph Tione`’s Bridal Session - they were game.

Here are a few of the images we created….

Here are a few images from Tione`’s Bridal Session.  Tione` opted to have her session photographed after her wedding date.  She looked just as gorgeous as she did on her weddinga day back in August.

As the 2008 wedding season is about to begin, I thought I’d share some images from Shayla’s Bridal Session from 2007.  The images were captured at the Elbow Beach Hotel, a few weeks before Shayla’s wedding.

To view a few of Shayla’s Bridal Session images, please follow these instructions EXACTLY!!

There are some computers at certain offices that don’t load the entire session.  The password will NO LONGER WORK after 12 am, Friday February 22nd.

P.S. I didn’t use any flash during the shoot.

It was back in January 2006 when Shayla stopped by my booth at Anthony’s Bridal Show.  Back then July 13th, 2007 seemed so far away.  Here it is, over a year later and Shayla & Curtis are now married.  However, before they tied the knot, I photographed a bridal session for Shayla a few weeks ago.

I didn’t want to use flash for Shayla’s session, so I photographed the shoot with all ambient (available) light….I was going for a moody, soft look.

By far, this next image is my favourite from the session.  I love the angle of the subject and the way the light is falling on Shayla. This image will look very good as a large canvas print hanging on their (or mom and dad’s) wall.

Let me answer the question that I am sure most of you are asking…”why is she looking up in some of the pictures?”  The answer is simple.  As I previously mentioned, I didn’t want to use flash for Shayla’s shoot so I photographed the session with all ambient (available) light.  All of the ambient light was coming from above.  Therefore, to avoid Shayla’s eyes/face being ‘blacked’ out by shadow, I asked her to look up into the light.

In a nutshell, a Bridal Session is the photographing of a bride-to-be in all of her wedding regalia - as she would appear on her wedding day. One to two months before the wedding day is the norm for such a session.

Bridal Sessions are very popular in the Southern states of America but are becoming more ‘en vogue’  all across the U.S.  Traditionally, Bridal Sessions were done in a photographer’s studio.  However, in embracing this modern era, Bridal Sessions are now being photographed in less formal & more diverse surroundings as the sessions are becoming more artistic and fashionable.

A Bridal Session can be photographed on the day of the wedding; however sometimes this isn’t advisable as the sessions can last anywhere between 2-3 hours and the wedding day already has it’s own set of time constraints.  I generally advise (my) brides-to-be who have elected to have a Bridal Session, to schedule the session for the same day that they have their hair & make-up trial runs.  This ensures that the hair and make-up photograph well and that continuity of the ‘look’ the bride will have on the actual day is maintained.

Though uncommon to Bermuda, Bridal Sessions are rapidly becoming ‘the thing to do’ here on the island. It affords the bride-to-be the opportunity to have the kind of fun with the camera that can’t always be captured and indulged in on a wedding day. Often times, the formal photos are taken in a somewhat ‘rushed’ atmosphere with the couple and photographer having to be mindful of the waiting guests at the reception.

For those of you who are non-traditionalists, having such a session gives you an opportunity to have a beautiful print to display on your wedding day. For those of you who are more traditional  - having such a session will provide you with the opportunity to have a more regal portrait of yourself to hang above your mantel or on that coveted living-room wall space.

Guys, (grooms-to-be that is) there’s no rule that says you can’t have your own session  - We’ll call it the ‘G-Session’. Who says that you can’t have a G-Q moment in front of the camera to strutt your stuff!

Well, this isn’t really a sneak peek. For obvious reasons I can’t post any images from the session that would show her dress until after the wedding, which is in a few weeks.  Yesterday, Shayla, my assistant and I headed to Elbow Beach Hotel to shoot Shayla’s Bridal Session.

Elbow must have known I was coming and that I liked using candles because there were candles all on the tables in the area where I had planned on shooting.  Thanks Elbow Beach Staff!!
