This past year, CHIC Studio, like many businesses saw our best laid plans go awry. Including the economic crunch and various other reasons, CHIC, has indeed weathered a very strange season!

From inexplicable computer crashes, reschedules due to untimely rainy days, to unexpected and lengthy shipment delays of albums and other products.  All culminated to frustrate not only CHIC but also some of you, our valued clients.

Though many of the setbacks were beyond CHIC’s control our sincerest apologies to those clients on whom such events took a toll. But despite it all, head on we have faced it, and have regrouped - yes, CHIC is GETTING BACK TO BASICS!!

We at CHIC Studio have reorganized & revamped our workflow and photo editing process to solidify those standards of timely and unique photography.  Anticipating the upcoming year with our improved internal measures for excellence, in full effect, 2011 is shaping up to be a good year for Chic Studio!!

Following are some of our clients testimonials:

We first hired Antwan to shot our engagement pictures. He was so easy to work with. My husband-to-be wasn’t too thrilled to take pictures and the thought of standing there posing didn’t excite him, but the moment he met Antwan he was fine. You definitely don’t feel like your posing, it just feels natural. After the engagement session it only took about 2-3 weeks and our pictures were available for viewing. They were amazing!! The way he captured the sunset and the effects he did with his camera, the pictures were like out of a magazine. When people saw them they were amazed at how beautiful they were.

Antwan then photographed our wedding. The day itself is so overwhelming and unreal, but at no time did I feel like a camera was in my face. I expected the wedding photos to take longer, but again they were available for us to view within 3 weeks. Most photographers take 6-8 weeks, so we were amazed that our pictures were available so quickly. When I saw the pictures of our wedding day, they were beautiful. I was able to relive the day all over again. He captured every single moment perfectly. The pictures told a story, which is exactly what I wanted. I didn’t want a bunch of posy shots; rather I wanted to be able to look at my wedding photos 5-10 years from now an experience the day all over again.

Although we had so many beautiful photos from our wedding we wanted to do a ‘Trash the Dress’ session with Antwan. We took the photos on the beach and had so much fun. Antwan made us feel so relaxed and it definitely showed in the pictures. He was willing to do anything to get the perfect shot, even if it meant getting into the cold water. When we saw the photos they were breathtaking!!

Working on our album has proved to be very difficult because we absolutely love every single photo. Antwan’s work is amazing and working with him is so easy. With the stress of planning a wedding, Antwan was like a breath of fresh air. He was so quick to answer your emails and his turn around time was unbelievable. I would recommended Antwan to other couples and will definitely hire him in the future to capture more memorable moments.

It’s still so surreal even after three months that we are officially husband and wife. Reviewing our wedding photos makes us feel as if we are reliving our special day all over again.  This wouldn’t have been possible without the professional work of Antwan Albuoy of Chic Studio.

When I first started looking for a photographer, a few friends had recommended Chic Studio for his ability to take unique and beautiful photos.  Although his prices were nowhere near my budget, we thought we would see what he had to offer anyway.  After our first meeting with him and reviewing samples of his work we (my fiancé)  were immediately impressed and decided to go ahead and book him for our wedding.  Of course this meant cutting down on something else we wanted to have for the wedding, but the decision was well worth it.

Our engagement photos were fantastic so we knew the wedding photos would be even better!!

While we reviewed our wedding album, we realized that each spread told a story, and to capture that in a still photo is absolutely awesome. We were able to develop a good relationship with a Antwan, which made posing for the photos so much more relaxing and enjoyable.  I would recommend Chic Studio to all betrothed couples that want not only quantity, but Quality.  We have come to the realization that the wedding day is now over, but with over 400 pictures to reminisce over day to day, we thank Chic Studio for capturing the beginning of the rest of our lives.

I was very pleased with the service I received from Chic Studio on our wedding day. Antwan was very attentive and took some fantastic pictures! The album reflects that so perfectly and although I did receive the album very late, as I’ve told people it was worth the wait when we finally did get it and saw what a unique and memorable album we now can show off.

I would definitely use Chic again and would recommend him to my friends as I have in fact done already. They have even asked on their own who I used as they like his style. Antwan is a great photographer and a great guy I would definitely consider using him for your special day!

Antwan,

We  would like to thank CHIC Studio for the work and professionalism you showed towards us on our wedding day.  You took some really great pictures and words can not explain how happy we are with the album.  Even though it took a while to produce,  after talking with you we realized that it was just one unfortunate mishap after another, through no fault of your own.   You really showed us that you are a perfectionist and that only your best work goes to your clients.  I would recommend your services to others  because as the saying goes it was WELL WORTH THE WAIT.

Working with Antwan was an artistic and enjoyable experience. Leading up to our wedding photo shoots, Antwan was easy to talk to, did not impose ideals and really listened to what we wanted; only adding his professional expertise when he felt it necessary.

At our engagement photo shoot he was energetic, patient and most importantly creative; helping to capture the essence of who we were in every photo that he took.

On our wedding day, he offered direction without being overbearing, made our photo session fun with his suggestions and stayed under the radar at the reception while capturing key moments of our guests and wedding party.

They say “a picture is worth a thousand words” and the excitement that we feel every time we look through our AMAZING album, only further supports this expression, as even a thousand words would be too little to describe the emotion our album evokes.

Thank you Antwan for doing an amazing job on our engagement and wedding photos and allowing us the opportunity to relive these beautiful times of our lives through the moments you captured on camera.

Antwan Albouy of Chic Studio is one of the best photographers on this island. His creativity and professionalism is displayed from consultation to the final product. He makes sure that your vision is displayed in everything. Antwan is always open to your creative ideas and he is full of wonderful ideas that will make special moments forever memorable.

Our wedding day was perfect despite the thunder and lightning and though we had picked a beautiful spot for outside photos Antwan came up with an appropriate inside alternative that was just as beautiful.

And our engagement shoot was also memorable. You will be proud to show off your wedding album as we are.

Congratulations to McKenzie-Kohl  and to Claire.

I hate to do this but all of the votes that have been placed today that didn’t follow the simple rules have been deleted. Please DO NOT put anything in the subject line except the number or letter.  DO NOT put:

The subject line ONLY needs a number or letter, nothing else. The reason is because it is easier and faster to tally all of the votes with the system I use.  All of the deleted votes are in the wedding category.

To ensure this doesn’t turn into a popularity contest, votes from the public will compromise 40% of the vote and the remaining 60% will be from a panel. Please base your vote on composition, lighting and scenery. Oh, it makes no sense to send 2 or 3 emails…just send ONE (1).

Ok, I know it’s been a very looonnnngggg time since I have updated the blog; you all know why so no need to rehash.  Needless to say, the problem has been fixed and the updates are now commencing.  Below are the first batch of updates…more to follow tomorrow.

 Respice Finem!!

I just received the following notice from the computer manufacture:

Your order has been further delayed due to a supply shortage and we need your permission today to continue processing it (as required by the Federal Trade Commission). ACTION REQUIRED: please contact us today (by 9pm CST tonight) to continue with your order that has a new Revised Estimated Delivery Date (see Revised Estimated Delivery Date below). We must receive your permission today or your order will automatically be cancelled. The new expected delivery date is August 14, 2009

At first, the delivery date for the motherboard was July 28.  Than it was moved to August 4; now it is August 11.  Yet another week passes without my computer and the back up computer I am ordering will take 2 weeks to build!!  Can someone say FRUSTRATING!!!

FATHER’S DAY FOTO FRENZY:‬‪‬‪

Father’s Day has come and gone but unfortunately, due to bad weather, the FOTO FRENZY scheduled for June 13th was postponed. Our community is still being affected by tragedies and the sudden/unexpected loss of life.  CHIC Studio, still wishes to offer Fathers [and mothers that are fathers] the opportunity for a complimentary photo shoot with their child(ren).  ‬‪‬‪

Dads, look around your house. How many of you have a picture with you & your child(dren)?  I know I don’t and I’m a photographer!!!‬‪

Will having some pictures taken cure Bermuda’s ills - No, it won’t; but, CHIC recognizes the far reaching impact of young kids losing fathers they haven’t had a real chance to know; and, parents burying young sons, who’ve barely lived.‬‪  And if We, in some small way, can help preserve life through: captured memories, eternalizing small moments in time and putting a smile on your child’s face (even if you’re a seasoned child - yes, at 40 you’re still someone’s kid), then we gladly offer you our time and talent‬‪ for a few hours on this day.  As the saying goes, a picture says a 1,000 words!!

Now, CHIC is aware that unfortunately, in some cases, mothers are also fathers. If this is you, we welcome you to attend also; BUT… you have to dress as a man…LOL…just kidding.  Seriously though, while we recognize this to be an all too common plight in our community, we are gearing this more specifically towards fathers (males) because “we” are losing so many.‬‪‬‪ Ladies, we know you understand.  Also, in some cases there are fathers who have children with more than one woman and in some of those cases, the mothers don’t get a long for one reason or another.  I implore those women to put aside your differences - if only for but a few hours. Allow dad to have his children together for  abrief photo shoot.

Here are the details:‬‪∙

Date: July 18th
Location: Lawn across from Botanical Gardens on South Shore
Time: 11pm - 6pm‬‪ .  Each shoot will last approximately 10-15 minutes

  • For Dads who are an ONLY child & have a son who is your ONLY child - you will receive a complimentary set of wallet prints & one 5×7‬‪ print
  • If you are a Generation (ie. Grandfather, Father & Son) of Only children - you will receive a complimentary set of wallet prints & two 5×7 prints‬‪‪
Note: The first GENERATIONAL ONLY CHILD Father/Son (has to go back at least 3 generations - granddad, dad, grandson) family to arrive will receive a complimentary set of wallet prints, one 5×7 print & an 8×10 print
  • IF (and this has to be a rarity) there is an ONLY CHILD father/son family, going back 4 or more Generations -(greatgrand, grandfather, son/greatgrandson) we’d love for you to come … Your complimentary gift will be ‘Shhhhhh’ that’ll be just between US & YOU for now….
Note: (If a 4 or more Generational family exists, who wants a shoot; but greatgrand (or one of the men) is incapacitated - contact CHIC & we’ll arrange a convenient time to come to you)…..

‬‪So, Fathers we encourage you to come out & have some photos taken with your child (dren) and PLEASE - try to coordinate your kids’ outfits so that they aren’t representing the colours of the rainbow!! Also, depending on the age of your child, you may consider bringing a soccer ball (or something similar) or a play toy.

Fun Castles will be on hand to occupy your kids while you wait for your turn. Also, snowballs and popcorn will be on sale.

I don’t know where to begin to explain the lack of updates. I guess I can blame Murphy’s Law - ‘Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.’

About 5 weeks ago, my BB died, just stopped working.  A week later, one of my cameras broke.  About a week after my camera broke, my computer frooze; OS just stopped working. This issue was sorted out. All of the software and plugins I need for editing pics had to be reloaded. Purchased latest version of Photoshop & Lightroom, went to edit pics last week BUT a plugin I needed …was nowhere to be found. Had to wait for the software vendor dude to send it to me via email.  He emailed me the file last Friday morning.  I went to turn on computer so that I could install the plugin, partially booted up -  I got the following msg “Alert, previous pump or fan failure. Alert, system shutting down” and then comp shut down. Callled US computer vendor again, they run some diagnostics and the diagnosis is that the motherboard has died. And of course, this being Bda, no one stocks the motherboard I need. Computer City said it will take about 3 weeks and Bda Microsystems informs me it will take them about 2 weeks. A further 3 weeks without a computer, ahhh, I don’t think so buddy!!  I call computer vendor Friday afternoon, say this and tell em that and place the order; part was due to arrive yesterday, Monday.  Vendor calls me on Saturday to say the order was cancelled, they don’t know why. So I place order again.  They called me back on Sunday, to inform me order was again cancelled. Apparently, even though I have my Zip X address attached to my local credit card, verification is not happening because it is an international credit card or something like that - which defeats the purpose of having Zip X address attached to card but that’s another story. I am told I have to use a credit card issued by a US bank/vendor, which I don’t have.

Ok, coming to the end of the story.

A US issued card was secured, order was placed, late yesterday afternoon, for the 3rd time.  I just checked and the motherboard is out for delivery to Zip X in NY.  I’m hoping and praying that the problem is actually with the motherboard. I am also hoping and praying that there is an invoice with the package to AVOID ANY DELAYS with H.M. Customs - Bermuda’s most wonderful, dedicated, undervalued & hardest woking group of employees anywhere East of the Mississippi!!!!  So, if there aren’t any delays with Customs and my tech guy can fit me in, I hope to be up and running by the weekend.

I have ENOUGH work to upload and edit….5 weddings, 4 engagement sessions, 2 graduations, a for his eyesonly session, thank you cards, a couple of albums 2 design and something else but I can’t member right now.

Please pray for my computer to be healed!
