After being married a few weeks ago, Nadia and Paul decided on doing a Trash The Dress photo session.

Who needs Fabio when there’s Shomari?

With the help of Tamara & Shomari (and their willingness to do a Trash The Dress session) I was able to create and capture the kinds of shots that romance novels are made of…  The shot below is just waiting for a call from novelist Daniele Steele to feature on the cover of her next romance novel.  Well, I can dream…can’t I? (o:

What is a Trash The Dress Session (TTD) you may ask?  A TTD session is a great way to create some really artistic, fun pictures that you really aren’t able to do on the wedding day.  You don’t have to be too concerned about maintaining the pristine appearance of  the bride’s dress - if it get’s dirty, so what, if it gets wet, so what, if the dress gets torn….so what (of course all of this is discussed with the bride before the session)! TTD sessions are a huge Phenomenon in the U.S.  Some TTD sessions have been featured on programs such as Entertainment Tonight, Good Morning America and in the New York Times. The phrase ‘Trash The Dress’ is actually misleading because the objective is to create artistic fun pictures; not to intentionally trash the dress - unless YOU want to!

You may remember Tamara & Shomari from their ‘Romancing in the Rain’ engagement session (they were married back in September of this year).  If you recall, they both have an infatuation for rain. Rain, the ocean - it’s water no matter how you look at it so I suggested to the newlyweds the idea of having a TTD session on the beach.  They said yes!

We headed to a location 2 or 3 beaches West of Warwick Long Bay.  I was extremely surprised and grateful that the clouds dissipated and a blue sky appeared in time for our shoot - only 2 hours earlier it was very overcast and cloudy. Neither I nor Tamara were looking forward to getting wet - yes, I did go in the ocean as well.  I live by the creed that I won’t ask you to do anything that I wouldn’t do myself. Boy was that water cold!!

Tamara & Shomari, thanks for being troopers and braving the cold Atlantic Ocean.

In case you were wondering, yes - Tamara is wearing her wedding dress; the same dress she was married in.
